Career site 2.0
Hey there, career explorers! 👋 We had a super exciting workshop at Amesto TechHouse's People and Culture team recently, where we brainstormed how to create a more user-friendly career site (note! still in progress ⏳..). We realized that it's crucial to put ourselves in the candidates shoes when building this awesome platform. So, let's dive into the question: What makes a good career site, from a candidate perspective?

First things first - when you visit a company's career site, what are the key things you want to find quickly? 🧐 Of course, the most important thing is finding available job openings, right? You want to know if your dream position is up for grabs. We get it, nobody wants to waste time scrolling through a ton of irrelevant information...
But it's not just about finding job opportunities, is it? You also want to get a feel for what it's really like to work at the company. Is the culture laid-back or super serious? Are there any awesome perks and benefits waiting for you? It's about finding the perfect fit for both your professional and personal life. ⚖️

In our workshop, we used a framework called "Kjernemodellen" when working towards Amesto TechHouse's career page 2.0. It's a simple and practical model that helps you create an efficient website that is user-friendly, and trust us, we had a blast during the workshop where we gained insights and found many ways to improve.

As HR and TA professionals, it's easy for us to get caught up in writing about our company's values and what we're proud of. 🌍 But let's be honest, that's not the primary reason candidates visit a career site. We need to shift our perspective and focus on what matters to the candidate! Let's cut out all the unnecessary fluff and get straight to the point. ☝🏾☝🏽☝🏻☝

Speaking of straight to the point, wouldn't it be great if there were fewer landing pages cluttering up your digital journey? We're thinking about our digital footprint here. Minimizing the number of separate pages to navigate through makes life easier for everyone involved 🌱🤍

So, let's sum it up! A good career site should have a clear and user-friendly interface. It should immediately:
✔️ Display available job openings,
✔️ Give you a glimpse into the company culture from an employee perspective, including client cases, projects and what a typical day looks like,
✔️ Also, of course, it should highlight the perks and benefits to expect!
(And hey, let's not forget to minimize the unnecessary clichés!)
What else do you think makes a career site awesome? 🤩 What features or information would you like to see when exploring potential job opportunities? We'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions! Shoot us a message and let's build the ultimate career site together. 😎
